On February 13, Jason Huguez, Director of Business Development, Desert Financial Credit Union, presented the Flagstaff Chamber Green Business Award to Habitat for Humanity Northern Arizona at the Flagstaff Chamber Annual Meeting and ATHENA Awards held at the High country Conference Center.

HFHNA has instituted a number of green practices including net-zero design, appliance and furniture rescue, recycling programs, and the use of sustainable building materials. In addition the Habitat's Restore, a home improvement and thrift store rescues home improvement products and even sells recycled paint in a variety of color shades.

The Flagstaff Chamber Green Business of the Year Award recognizes local businesses and non-profits that demonstrate commitment to reducing their daily operational impacts on the environment.

Flagstaff Chamber Green Business Award recipients are regarded as models of sustainability, social responsibility, and fiscal prudence within the Flagstaff community. These organizations employ innovation and creativity to surmount the economic hurdles of a sustainable business model. Each is a paragon to other businesses and non-profits, paving the way for a green and economically robust future.
