President/CEO of Goodwill Industries of Northern Arizona. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, and raised in Wichita, Kansas. Hirsch is married to wife Patty, a special education teacher, for 25 years with three children – Chelsea, Tom, and Rebecca.
Hirsch is a product of a Jesuit, all boys’ high school in Wichita, Kansas. He received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in family and child development and his master’s degree in rehabilitation counseling from the University of South Florida. He is a Certified Chief Executive Officer through Goodwill Industries International.
A chief executive with strong strategic and operating leadership experience with nationally recognized not-for-profits. Expertise in donated goods/retail, rehabilitation, workforce development, human services, and housing for persons with disabilities. Hirsch has been in not-for-profit leadership for over 35 years in various capacities ranging from front-line manager to chief executive officer.
For the past 27 years Hirsch has been associated with Goodwill Industries, beginning his career with the Sarasota Goodwill in 1987. While with the Sarasota Goodwill Hirsch directed workforce development and human services, human resources, and donated goods/retail operations. Accomplishments while with the Sarasota Goodwill include launching Sarasota’s signature Job Connection(sm), now adopted by Goodwills’ nationwide, and contributing to its growth from a $2.2 million to a $15 million not-for-profit business, leading all Goodwills’ in market share.
In 2001 Hirsch joined Goodwill Industries of Southern Arizona in Tucson as its Chief Operating Officer and in 2004 was recruited as President/Chief Executive Officer with Goodwill Industries of Northern Arizona. Under Hirsch’s leadership revenue has increased from $1.6 million to $10 million with five stores, two outlets, eight donation centers, and five Job Connections. In July, 2014, Goodwill Industries of Northern Arizona became the Comprehensive One-Stop Career Center for Coconino County. The organization has received the highest level of accreditation possible through the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
Hirsch previously sat on the Governor’s State Rehabilitation Advisory Council for the State of Arizona, is a member of the University of Arizona Rehabilitation Advisory Board, is a member of the Coconino County Workforce Development Board, Past-Chair of the Coconino County Homeless Continuum of Care, is a board member with the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce, is a board member with the Flagstaff Housing Authority, and serves as an Executive Committee Member of the Economic Collaborative of Northern Arizona (ECoNA).
