This Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce signature workforce development initiative partners Chamber members with middle- and high-school classrooms to explore careers available at local companies and the baseline employability skills that are necessary to obtain and keep a job.Flagstaff teachers and school counselors have told the Chamber how these interactions with businesses create “light bulb” moments. Students learn that they do not have to leave Flagstaff after high school or college in order to have meaningful careers. Businesses commit to meeting with their classroom at least twice. One of the meetings is a trip to the business, so the students can see first-hand the work being done by the business or organization.
