Chamber Endorses Nabours for Mayor

Jerry Nabours

Driven by the Chamber’s 5 Core Values with emphasis on representing the interests of Business before Government and Influencing Political Action the Chamber Board in their Tuesday, April 24th 2012 meeting spoke loudly by endorsing Jerry Nabours, a retired attorney, for Mayor.

Chamber President Julie Pastrick stated, “the board believes our diverse and vibrant business community will have a strong ally in Mr. Nabours who is solidly business friendly”.  In advocating for pro-growth policies, minimal regulation, and a solid economic future, the Board found Jerry’s vision highly advantageous in leading the community forward.

John Malin

The Board also endorsed Jeff Oravits   and John Malin. Two newcomers to elective politics but who clearly embody pro-business values articulating a vision on the campaign trail for less regulation, private property rights in their opposition to the PMO, and given their vocal support for local economic drivers like Arizona Snowbowl.

Karla Brewster

The Chamber also endorsed the candidacy of current incumbents Karla Brewster  an existing Executive Committee Member of ECONA-the Region’s Economic Development collaborative of which the Chamber is a lead financial partner and which is responsible for recruiting jobs and capital investment and Councilwoman Coral Evans for her existing engagement with the Chamber and accessibility when community issues arise.

In advance of this endorsement the Chamber Board underwent an exhaustive candidate review process incorporating candidate meetings with staff, a comprehensive candidate questionnaire, a member straw poll, and hosting of a Candidate Forum which dealt with a comprehensive set of questions relating to future business success and growth.  In addition, the Chamber attended myriad Candidate forums held community-wide.
